Chapter 10 - The New Beginning

One year later.

The summer sun beamed down on the estate’s newly built playground near the lake.

A large wooden sign swung gently in the breeze: THE ELENA CARUSO CHILDREN'S FOUNDATION—a charitable organization Juliet and Matteo had founded to help underprivileged, traumatized children across Michigan receive free counseling, education, and support.

Juliet sat on a wooden bench, wearing a light summer dress. Her dark curls blew softly in the wind, her face glowing with a beauty that seemed to grow brighter with every passing day.

Beside her, nine-year-old Nico was patiently teaching a group of younger children from the foundation how to build a model wooden boat. He was confident, kind, and deeply caring—a far cry from the angry, broken boy who had thrown a breakfast tray onto the floor two years ago.

"Look, Juliet!" Nico shouted, holding up the wooden sailboat. "We finished the mast!"

"It looks incredible, Nico!" Juliet cheered, blowing him a kiss.

Footsteps sounded on the grass behind her.

Matteo walked up, wearing a casual linen shirt, carrying two tall glasses of lemonade. He handed one to Juliet, sitting down beside her on the bench, wrapping his arm around her shoulders.

"How is the foundation meeting going?" Juliet asked, leaning her head on his shoulder.

"We just secured three new pediatric specialists from Chicago," Matteo smiled proudly. "We’re expanding the program to cover three more counties next month."

"You're doing amazing work, Matteo," she said softly.

"We are doing amazing work, sweetheart," he corrected gently, pressing a kiss to her lips.

Suddenly, a tiny cry echoed from the stroller parked right beside the bench.

Juliet and Matteo both looked down with instant warmth.

Sitting inside the padded stroller was a four-month-old baby girl with bright green eyes and a tuft of dark, silky hair—their daughter, Elena.

Juliet leaned over, gently scooping the baby up into her arms, holding her close against her chest. Baby Elena cooed softly, reaching her tiny fingers up to touch Juliet’s face.

Nico came running over, setting his wooden boat on the grass, looking down at his baby sister with pure, protective adoration.

"Hey, little sister," Nico whispered, gently patting her soft cheek. "Don't worry, big brother is going to teach you how to build boats soon."

Matteo leaned in, wrapping his powerful arms around Juliet, Nico, and baby Elena, pulling his entire family into a tight, warm embrace.

I looked down at the woman who had walked through his iron gates as a simple housekeeper two years ago. She had faced his wrath, stood up to his syndicate enemies, saved his son, and filled his dark world with light, love, and a bright future.

The mafia boss who had once trusted no one had found his true strength not in weapons or wealth, but in the love of the curvy, fearless woman holding his daughter.

"I love you, Juliet," Matteo whispered into her hair, his heart full and complete.

Juliet looked up at her husband, her green eyes shining with absolute love and peace.

"I love you too, Matteo. Forever."

And beneath the bright Michigan sun, surrounded by the laughter of children and the warmth of a true home, the Caruso family lived happily ever after.
